ABI believes it is our responsibility to help every student athlete realize their full potential. We help players obtain an education and experience the life of a college basketball player. Alabama Basketball Institute works with and for parents and players instead of only giving advice.
The process begins with 7th and 8th grade, boy and girl, players who start for their middle school teams. During the season, we record stats, grades, and offer game feedback. During the off season, players train three times a week and compete in summer basketball competitions. Grades are monitored until the end of the academic year.
At the beginning of the freshman year, ABI help student athletes adhere to NCAA, NAIA, and NJCCA eligibility guidelines throughout high school. Including ACT and SAT testing. Players continue training and playing with their school and ABI summer teams.
Sophomore year and beyond, player skills and academics are matched to a college level. Working with the student athletes and their parents, the process of contacting college coaches starts. Game and training with their school and ABI continues until graduation. Then your player and college coach start their college journey.
There are 375 colleges and universities offering basketball scholarships in the southeast and Texas. D1, D2, NAIA, and JUCO are all represented. Earning a scholarship is difficult and requires commitment.
ABI's progression is JV by 9th grade and varsity by 10th with some playing time as a minimum. By 11th grade, players should be starting on varsity, playing significant time, and/or closing games. As a senior, athletes must be considered one of the top players on the team, in the area, and beyond. They should be leading their team to prominent in-season, tournament, and post-season wins.
