The 16th Annual Panhandle March Madness is officially in the books and the growth of our Project 2034 team tells the real story.
One year ago, this was their first time stepping into this tournament, with scores of 25-3, 18-4, and 20-6. Fast forward to today, and that same group has battled their way to a second-place finish in the exact same competition. That kind of improvement doesn’t happen by accident. It’s the result of structure, consistency, and a long-term development model. The GCPC team proved to be a dominant force and exposed key areas where we can continue to improve our curriculum. And that’s exactly why ABI competes not just to win, but to evaluate, refine, and grow. High performance is simply the byproduct.
At ABI, we intentionally keep the focus on team development at younger ages. While we do track individual player data, it is used internally to monitor progress and build personalized development plans and not to define or label players early. Those individual stats aren’t shared until the summer before 7th grade, when players can clearly see their growth over time and build confidence heading into 7th grade tryouts. This is how we protect development while preparing them for real opportunities.
The Alabama Basketball Institute is evolving. We are no longer just a training company; we are becoming a true basketball research and development institute, focused on long-term athlete growth, performance tracking, and proven systems.
